Berwyn Barn

Quick Bit: A 1722 well-kept barn in the Berwyn area, outside of Philadelphia. Painted in the Plein Air style during a snowy February.

Journal Entry: A plein air style painting is always fun, and this one was extra fun since it was about 32 degrees and snowing outside while I attempted painting it the first time. My watercolors were a mess with the moisture in the air, so I tried again a couple weeks later when it was dryer but still in the middle of a cold February. I was able to complete it that time! The area of Valley Forge is thick with history and this barn is in walking distance from my house, on a private property. If you look close, the datestone reads 1722! Many years even before our countries independence!
